audiovisual elements, performers presence and spatiality,

In recent years herStay has introduced several new productions
that have been enthusiastically received and that have generated
a growing interest in the profound artworks of Monica Emilie
Herstad herStay is a dance performance unit, which
through critics is described as representing a new direction
within performance language herStay is the distinguished and productive performance unit that are defined to belong within the genre where the art gallery and the event is of just as great importance as the theater or dance stage itself
herStay performances are of an ambient kind and uses dance, meditation, text fragments, art videos, and (DJ´s live performed electronica) music, as equal dramaturgic elements. herStay artistic message consists of director Monica Emilie Herstads intelligent, personal, subtle comments on the societies that surrounds us

herStay art performances consists often of 1-8 performers and 1-3 personnel:
1-6 dancers, 1-2 musicians, 1 light/technical director, 1-2 assistants

Communication needs from stage manager to all various
crew positions during performance: to include light

7 empire style chairs, white painted
DRESSING ROOMS:
2-3 dressing rooms with mirrors, clothing racks,
tables and chairs. If possible, dressing rooms should
be located on stage level. Bottled, non-carbonated
water with cups and snacks during rehearsals and
performances
WARDROBE:
1 steamer and iron with ironing board
If possible, 1 wardrobe crew with steaming and
ironing experience
TEMPERATURE:
A minimum of 70 degrees (21 c.) must be maintained
on stage and in all dressing rooms when the
ensemble is present in the theater facility
TECHNICAL CREW:
The sponsor must provide experienced crew for load-in,
rehearsals, performances and load-out of the ensemble.
The exact size of the crew shall be determined by the
herStay production manager and the production manager
of the theater
Assuming there is a pre-hung, circuited lighting plot,
a typical breakdown would be:

Artistic leader of herStay Monica Emilie Herstad is since 1994 frequently teaching workshops and lectures on a professional university and post graduate level, for instance at KhiO/ The national academy for fine art and performing arts in Oslo, at NTNU in Trondheim, at Bergen Dansesenter, and continously teaching herStay members on a highly advanced level. Contributers to herStay are exclusively all holding MA or BA from higher education within dance and the arts, or similar experience, keeping the standards high for every one involved, with the audience in mind

herStay - parallelly represents ad-hoc wize, THE NORTHERN BUTOH AND BODY WEATHER LABORATORIES: herStay workshops and lectures are teached exclusively in Monica Emilie Herstad´ spirit, inspired with the Butoh and Body Weather Laboratories Movement that Min Tanaka thoroughly teached her since 1994, as well as Monica Emilie Herstad is also educated as a ballet teacher and contmemporary dancer, at the danceacademy in Oslo, with further studies within improvisation and choreography at the R.I.D.C. in Paris, and then 7 years of deepstudy within Butoh and body Weather as Min Tanaka´s dancer internationally
Her teachings consists thereby of a basic structured still sencitive way of presenting her understanding of the Butoh and Body Weather movement, with the skill of art and performance energies as the ultimate aim for the participants, listeners and viewers - the very quintessentials of what her THE NORTHERN BUTOH AND BODY WEATHER LABORATORIES celebrated in 2004, after 10 years of existence.
The 12th of December 2004, herStay ensemble performed an excerpt of Monica Emilie Herstad´ succesful recent performance Post-Matter--Positioning to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of THE NORTHERN BUTOH AND BODY WEATHER LABORATORIES, that existed since 1994, since Monica Emilie Herstad´ first dance appearance in Japanese Min Tanaka´s international performances, and her 10 year further developement within this field ********
